From idea to implementation: how the new TutKit.com came about

When we launched TutKit.com, we wanted to offer you a platform that motivates you to learn and gives you quick and easy access to helpful materials for direct use. With this in mind, we have expanded our content over the past few years by an average of two new publications per week. There are now over 600 complete packages with more than 10,000 individual pieces of content available to you - whereby a single piece of content can be a set of 10 files.

The content is the core of TutKit.com, and we will continue to expand the offer with new tutorials and assets in the future. This core is surrounded by a juicy shell that also needs to be maintained. This concerns the code and technology of TutKit.com, the workflow in the backend, which we use to manage the content and - above all - the frontend, in which you move around and which should offer you the best possible user experience.

The new backend of TutKit.com
We have also designed a completely new system in the backend that allows us to work more effectively.

For these three points, we went all out and completely redesigned TutKit.com. Right from the start, we asked ourselves how we could improve user-friendliness for you with a new design, new user guidance and new functions. At the same time, we worked out an intelligent administration system that would make our own work more efficient in future.

In a good two and a half years, we went through the entire process from the idea to the concept to the final implementation. We sketched out a wide variety of ideas, discarded many of them and finally transformed the essence into a 220-page document. Design drafts were created, revised countless times, fine-tuned and resulted in a good two dozen Adobe XD prototypes with more than 100 artboards.

High user experience on TutKit.com
Dozens of XD documents, a 220-page documentation - this is how we prepared the relaunch of TutKit.com.

Little by little, a functioning system emerged, which we tested and modified. Finally, we migrated the existing content, revised it and adapted it to the new circumstances. And we did all this in a fundamentally new development environment. We switched from the php framework CodeIgniter to Laravel with a completely new code base, whereby our four in-house developers were supported in the technical implementation by the Münster-based agency a coding project GmbH , which specializes in Laravel.

We worked with enthusiasm and confidence on the successful relaunch of TutKit.com. A challenging experience with a steep learning curve - and a result that benefits us all.

A heartfelt thank you!

Admittedly: The road behind us ended up being longer and rockier than we originally thought. There is no doubt that the relaunch of TutKit.com was a mammoth project. I still remember the sometimes heated discussions about one idea, function or design component or another. But I also remember the moments when the gears finally meshed smoothly. All in all, I can safely say that the effort was worth it. The result is what we consider to be the best learning management platform with the best user experience in the German-speaking world.

The fact that we have created a cutting-edge platform in TutKit.com that meets the needs of modern e-learning and digital assets shows the continued high level of interest in our offering. Over 2,000 companies and self-employed people use TutKit.com for further training and to prepare their own content. New members join every week.

With the relaunch, we laid the foundations in terms of design and technology to make TutKit.com future-proof. But of course the developments continue. We are currently working on additional enhancements - such as a function that allows you to create your own learning paths.

Stefan and Matthias from TutKit
Working hard every day to further develop your platform: Stefan and Matthias Petri.

The daily maintenance of the platform, the implementation of additional features, the production and licensing of high-quality content and our support take time, money and passion. Such an extensive portal, which meets the demands for high-quality further education and valuable download files, would not be possible without your support.

I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of the entire team - for your trust and for helping TutKit.com move forward on a daily basis with your membership.

Thank you very much!

Your Stefan Petri and the TutKit.com team
