At the beginning of the year, Stefan Petri takes another look in the 2022 rear-view mirror: there we see a 20th anniversary, milestones achieved and many new icons and application templates that were released for you in November and December. And if you're an Afffinity Photo user - at the bottom of the article, we take a look at the new features of version 2.0.

Two decades: our PSD-Tutorials.de forum celebrated its anniversary in December

Did you know that the development of TutKit.com is ultimately due to my enthusiasm for the Amiga 500 and the DeluxePaint software? That the origins of your platform for e-learning and digital assets lie 20 years in the past and date back exactly to December 20, 2002? If not, I recommend you take a look at our forum PSD-Tutorials.de. In the news there, I summarize how it all began and how things have continuously developed up to the current appearance of TutKit.com.

The first version of PSD-Tutorials.de and today's TutKit.com
The first version of PSD-Tutorials.de went online on December 20, 2002 (left). And no, back then nobody would have guessed what would develop from it - including an agency and of course TutKit.com (right). You can read more about this story in the news on PSD-Tutorials.de.

Milestones 2022

You start a new week, a new quarter, a new year - and then the time flies by again. It's not uncommon for the uneasy feeling of having achieved far too little to creep in. For example, we would have liked to see a lot more blog articles here in 2022. So what to do? The best thing to do is sit back and take a sober look at the past. You'll quickly realize that a lot has happened - including this:

After we went online with the revamped TutKit.com at the end of 2021, it wasn't long before we received a few error messages from our members, but also from ourselves. And because, in addition to fixing bugs , we also keep an eye on continuous development and improvement , we were able to process over 600 tickets in 2022. Sometimes it was about a few pixels in the frontend that we didn't like. Sometimes we simply needed new and enhanced functions in the backend administration. A considerable number of tickets in any case - and we are gradually seeing land there - not just in the form of a small island, but in the form of a full-blown continent!

Tickets that were processed for further development in 2022
Fixing bugs and making improvements: we were able to process over 600 tickets in 2022.

As the operator of an online platform, we naturally also have to deal with search engine optimization . To be honest, we have grown quite fond of this task in the meantime. Thanks to technical measures in particular, but also the odd content twist or two, we were able to increase the number of clicks from Google to us by almost 280% last year and visibility by around 480%. Of course, we'll keep at it here as well, but we'll have achieved the big SEO technology boost in 2022.

On the rise for some time now: our curves for clicks and visibility after technical SEO.

We also gave our aforementioned forum PSD-Tutorials.de a comprehensive makeover. As previously for TutKit.com (only on a much smaller scale), the design, usability, technology and co. were completely overhauled. A feat of strength that has now positioned the forum in such a way that it can easily exist for another 20 years.

Finally, towards the end of the year, we were delighted to reach another target: over 500 people now follow us on our LinkedIn channel . There we provide weekly updates on new content and the latest news about TutKit.com. If you are not there yet, please feel invited ...

As usual, we also published new complete packages with video tutorials, assets and design templates on TutKit.com - and, yes, a few blog articles also saw the light of day. The review can therefore confidently put aside the uneasy feeling of having achieved too little. Instead, we are now looking forward with renewed focus in order to continue to provide you with helpful content and to further develop TutKit.com for you. There is a lot in the pipeline - and as soon as it becomes more concrete and ready to go, we will let you know here in our blog. Let's take a look at the content that was freshly added in November and December ...

Icons and application templates - new content from November and December

Just in time for Christmas, we gave you brand new templates with our Christmas card designs to help you minimize the design time for your Christmas greetings. Missed out? Then mark the package for next Christmas - because it's almost certainly coming.

The map for Rhineland-Palatinate has been completely redesigned and now offers you markings for over 60 cities in addition to the display of the districts in various designs. These can be shown and hidden individually.

400 new icons in vector quality

We have also added 400 new icons to the graphics. All icons are vector-based and available in AI, EPS and SVG formats as well as PNG files. With the new packs, you can expand your graphics repertoire in the areas of sport, education and science, business and enterprise as well as vacation and travel.

New templates for application documents

The newly added application templates specifically address the areas of online marketing, management assistance, motion design, real estate and graphic design. With a cover sheet, CV and cover letter page in five color variants each, all templates offer you everything you need to quickly create finished application documents. All layouts can be edited in Word and InDesign.

Affinity Photo 2.0 - the new features at a glance

Affinity Photo recently jumped up to version 2.0. I took a look at some of the new features and discuss them briefly and concisely in the update video. You can watch it right here - or in the accompanying Affinity Photo basics training.

And now let's really move on to 2023! On behalf of the entire team, I wish you a good start to the year and then an equally pleasant journey through the days to come.
