Creating snow in Photoshop couldn't be easier: Select your motif, start the action and the snowflakes will start trickling down the foreground and background of your image. What's more, the result is an oil painting effect that transforms your photos into contemplative, gift-worthy scenes.

How to bring winter into your photos using Photoshop

First, double-click to load the Photoshop action "Snowflake magic in front of oil paint" and the brushes provided into the program. Then open your photo and select the motif to copy it to a separate layer. One click and numerous automated process steps later, you have a wintery, Christmassy end result:

Large snowflakes drift by in the foreground, smaller ones float down in the background. The white of winter also makes itself at home on the contours of your motif in a fluffy, delicate layer of snow. Fine snow crystals sparkle in the midst of the flurry, and your picture itself is presented in enchanting oil colors.

Remove distracting snow and create a wintry frame

Further tips on using the Photoshop action: If there is a snowflake blocking the view of your motif after the action has finished, you can easily remove it. To do this, use the black brush to paint on the mask of the snow layers and soften the intensity of the drifting snow. You can adjust the color of the background as you wish.

You can also use the Photoshop action to create wintry picture frames for your motifs. To do this, do not select the motif itself, but draw a rectangular frame around it, for example. Fill it with black on a new layer and then start the action.
