Once you have downloaded a presets package, the presets are available for import into Camera Raw.
Importing presets (XMP format) into Camera Raw
You can call up Camera Raw in Adobe Bridge and in Photoshop from version CS4. To import the presets within Photoshop via Camera Raw, proceed as follows:
- Open Camera Raw via Filter>Camera Raw Filters...
- Open the control panel for presets (the rightmost icon under the histogram).
- Open the context menu in the top right corner of the presets panel.
- Click on Load settings...
- Select the presets you want to import on your computer. Important: With Camera Raw version 12 and older, the regular XMP files can still be imported. If you are using Camera Raw version 12.4 or later, please import the XMP files as a packed ZIP file, otherwise Camera Raw will not identify them as readable objects.
- Click on Import.
- You can now access the presets via the Presets panelin the User presets folder.
Note: If you have already imported the presets into Lightroom Classic CC, they should automatically be available to you in Camera Raw as well. Both storage paths share the same target directory on the hard disk.
Applying presets to a photo in Camera Raw
As soon as you have imported the presets and move the mouse over a preset, you will immediately see a preview of the changes in your photo. Click on the preset to apply it. This automatically moves the sliders to the predefined positions in the preset. You can then adjust the settings further in the basic settings control panel. Finally, click OK to return to Photoshop.
